Chapter 26 — Engineering Specification Taxonomy

26.1 Purpose

This chapter establishes the Engineering Specification Taxonomy of the Engineering Intelligence Platform.

The Engineering Specification Taxonomy provides a unified organizational framework for all Engineering Specifications governed under SP-000.

Its objectives are to ensure consistency, discoverability, traceability, and long-term maintainability across the Engineering Baseline.


26.2 Principles

The Engineering Specification Taxonomy shall adhere to the following principles:

  • Hierarchical organization
  • Unique identification
  • Functional classification
  • Controlled ownership
  • Lifecycle traceability
  • Scalability
  • Platform independence

The taxonomy shall remain stable while allowing controlled expansion.


26.3 Root Authority

The Engineering Specification Taxonomy is established through:

SP-000 — Engineering Specification Master Index

SP-000 shall be the single authoritative index governing all Engineering Specifications.

No Engineering Specification shall exist outside the SP-000 taxonomy.


26.4 Taxonomy Structure

Engineering Specifications shall be organized into functional domains.

26.6 Identification Rules

Each Engineering Specification shall possess:

  • Unique SP Identifier
  • Functional Domain
  • Version
  • Lifecycle State
  • Responsible Owner

Identifiers shall never be reused.


26.7 Taxonomy Evolution

The Engineering Specification Taxonomy may evolve by:

  • introducing new engineering domains;
  • refining functional classifications;
  • reorganizing engineering artefacts.

Such evolution shall occur under Engineering Baseline Governance.

Constitutional revision is not required unless governance itself is affected.


26.8 Relationship to Governance

The taxonomy is subordinate to:
